Happy Organics was founded by chicana entrepreneur and third-generation beekeeper, Jessica Gonzalez. Her family’s beekeeping tradition began with her grandfather in Michoacán, México. He tended and cared for the bees on his farm while her grandmother sold beeswax at the local Mercado.
In 2018, after receiving a degree in computer science, Jessica returned to her family farm in the heart of the Central Valley of California. On this 10-acre farm in Merced, they grow lavender, rosemary, wildflowers, borage, sunflowers, citrus, pomegranate trees and fig trees. Thirty-four hives collect pollen from the gardens. Using beeswax collected from the hives, Jessica hand crafts each candle. Each design is inspired by her family’s heritage in farming and beekeeping and is a tribute to the joy and warmth of wholesome living.
Happy Organics strives to be as sustainable as possible. They always put their honeybees first and never take more than they can give, working hard to ensure that they will not only survive, but thrive on their own long after they are gone.
