true bayberry candles
"A bayberry candle burned to the socket, puts luck in the home, food in the larder and gold in the pocket."
A New England tradition started over three centuries ago, burning a bayberry candle on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve is said to bring good luck for the coming year.
Made from the wax coating of the berries of the bayberry shrub, these tapers by Helsher House are the real deal. For fifty years, Helsher House has been hand dipping tapers using a carousel dipping wheel from 1850. Each pair is hand strung and then dipped 28 times. The first 25 dips of each candle are in 100% pure bayberry wax and the last 3 dips are in 80% pure bayberry and 20% beeswax.
